In addition to his ministerial role, Goutham Reddy held the position of a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, representing the Atmakur constituency in the Nellore district. He was re-elected as an MLA in both the 2014 and 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections.

Mekapati Goutham Reddy Career
Goutham Reddy hailed from a family with a strong political background. His father, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, was a prominent politician and a former Member of Parliament (MP). In 2014, Goutham embarked on his political journey by running as a candidate for the Atmakur Assembly Constituency in Nellore District under the YSRCP.
Following his electoral victory, he assumed the role of the Minister of Information Technology in 2019.
Tragically, on February 21, 2022, Goutham Reddy passed away at the age of 50. He had returned from a week-long trip to Dubai and was preparing to go to the gym when he suddenly collapsed on his home’s sofa, experiencing chest pain. His family and security personnel rushed him to Apollo Hospital, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Goutham was known for his dedication to fitness, maintaining a rigorous exercise routine and a healthy diet. His untimely demise at the age of 50 was a somber moment.
