Deepak Poonia was born on 19 May 1999 in village Chhara, district Ijjar, Haryana. His mother’s name is Krishna Poonia and his father’s name is Subhash Poonia. He also has a sister whose name is Neeru Poonia.

Born in a middle-class family, Deepak was very fond of things like wrestling and wrestling since childhood. Deepak did his early education from a small school in his village. He also used to do wrestling during his studies. He also used to participate in small wrestling competitions.

His dream was to wrestle at the international level. This is the reason why he started paying more attention to his training and took training from famous wrestler Guru Satpal of Chhatrasal Stadium for better training.

Deepak Punia Tokyo Olympics 2020: In the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Deepak Punia reached the semi-finals by defeating Colombia’s Tigreros with his skill. Deepak dusted off the Chinese player in the quarters of 85 kg category with his freestyle performance. By defeating Deepak 6-3, he won the semi-final title. In the end, he won because of his hard work.

Deepak Punia won the Commonwealth Games 2022 gold medal

In the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England, Deepak won the gold medal by defeating Mohammad Inam of Pakistan 3-0 in the final match in the 86 kg freestyle category. Let us tell you that this is Deepak’s first gold medal in the Commonwealth Games.
